interior design/ architecture

a mix of my mom and aunt’s homes… they are best friends and collaborate on creative projects (interior decorating especially) all the time…

you can never have too many oriental rugs…

my mom has had these forever – so funny…  we use them to house flour and sugars :)

These days, when I make it “home”, my family congregates at my moms in Scottsdale, AZ.   Just a few years ago, with  my sister graduating my mama decided to nest in a smaller more cozy home only 5 minutes away.  It was really sad for all of us because, our old house was truly one of a kind.

In our new house my mom has definitely made it feel more like home with interior decorating.  She is antique & vintage obsessed!!!!!!  Cmeyer (my mama) has a knack for discovering treasures, which she then sells in her Antique Shop (aka furnish our home hahah)…

Every-time I come home there is so much to discover :)  Here is a brief glimpse… more to come… sorry for my crappy grammar.

when i came home this vintage dress (i think circa 1950′s or 60′s) was hanging in my closet… i think my mom wanted to see if it would fit me before she decided to sell it.  I tried it on and fell in love!  no way i can part with it now :D  I will take more photos of it because it has this gorgeous lace detailing that covers the back!

this is the family cat – diva – i know ridiculous.  she is beautiful beyond and she knows it :( she never likes to cuddle because she is the boss… but i managed to force her into this photo.

this is my room at home… i adore this cute peacock inspired lamp and the vintage dresser.  I really think my mom has THE BEST taste.

dresser

looks about right.

you can see the copious baggage… excess baggage much? and lacey hiding from the camera

front door

magnets on the fridge…

i want to re-take these in day light…   the family room…

kitchen…

this is stuff my mom is sorting through for her shop (except for the beloved sugar jars in the back)

haha

this lamp is so madmen it hurts.

this has ALWAYS been in my bathroom

antique wall paper samples my mom framed and arranged above my bed…

more to come – daylight will be better for shooting.

^just for you… well, maybe someday

Established in 1837 by Thierry Hermès as a saddle shop in Paris, the company has grown internationally yet continues to implement its traditional techniques into its creations. – source: Wikipedia-Hermes

Today after work, I meandered aimlessly into Hermes… Maybe it’s illogical but, there is something nice & safe about browsing luxury items you can’t afford – because of course you won’t buy them… because unfortunately you can’t… at least not justifiably

Even though you may not be walking out of the store with a bag… you are walking away with creative inspiration.  Marisa and I wandered from corner to corner of the store ooooing and ahhhing all the fabulous pieces.  Just being amongst that kind of quality and craftsmanship was a high :)

We were especially fortunate because the sales lady took the time to explain a brief history and process of how their silk scarfs are made.  Apparently each color printed on the silk comes from it’s own screen printer… so some scarfs are created using 50+ printers!!!

we learned that Hermes has a few traditional silk patterns that are reprinted in new colors each year – this print is called the “Bride de Gala”

My favorite thing in the store today (aside from the equestrian riding boots) were the GORGEOUS enamel ashtrays from a collection inspired by India… i die!

The idea of using this dish for ashes is pure insanity!!! I can NOT even fathom letting any grime grace it’s existence.  Envision instead on your dresser housing delicate jewels… ahhh….

><

a few other obsessions…

^of course enamel bangles…

also check le rainy day – because I am sure Marisa will be posting about our Hermes adventures too!

Even though we are progressing into a “paperless world”, there is something irreplacable about a room/house overflowing with books.  The touch, the feel, the photographs (picture books are my favorite these days ;) )… Perhaps this post will inspire you to pop into a second hand book store and add a bit of character to your nightstand.

These photographs were taken this past weekend at a CRAZY second hand store in Newtown (the “Brooklyn” of Sydney – but not really at all)… Thanks to a good old trusty bottle of hand san (street term for sanitizer) Marisa, Ben and I were able to sift through a full aisle and find serious treasure.  The highlight for me would have to be vintage Italian art pamplets of the “masters” called I Maestri Del Colore.  We have some ambitious wall hanging/decorating ideas for these when we move back state side.  Also photographed are some books we thought would be fun or interesting conversation pieces in your home.

^ so cute!

^these images are so cooL! the graphics were this iridescent gold… the book itself was a bit hardcore…

^some of our decoration inspirations!

^this is going on my wall – adore klimt

^ Marisa and an empty bottle of hand sans – never a good sign :(

^ Marisa and the Kirchner cover

^bet you haven’t seen this book in years
