despite not being able to go home to visit my family… my second thanksgiving abroad was a complete success!  Thanks to a close-knit group of Americans living down under the holiday traditions were more than alive this week.  Lucky for me thanksgiving came twice this week with two delicious outdoor potluck dinners over looking the beach.

Thanksgiving uno

The first event was more traditional and was hosted at Dylan’s apartment rooftop- we ate on thursday in sydney, thanks was said :) and about 20 of us sat down together late into the night eating and drinking.  The night wrapped up with a ridiculous viewing of “Hard Ticket to Hawaii” (the most of out control movie ever!!!)

Thanksgiving dos

The second event was an international affair – Italians brought pasta, the Irish brought potatoes, the American’s brought the traditional elements (candied yams, turkey, stuffing, scones, scalloped potatoes) it was laid back and was an early dinner on Collin’s beachside patio.  I was most excited about receiving the pasta recipe from the Italians (since I am currently exploring italian cooking! will share soon!)

love this one!

Let the cooking begin.  Being abroad for t-giving we opted for the pot-luck thanksgiving.  Here are some of my cooking creations… oh yes and Marisa’s rice crispy treat turkey, which was the highlight of the evening and Shannon & Kemi’s first turkey!

My friends in Colorado have asked me several times to feature Savoy on my blog because they are obsessed with their sound. Especially live – their concerts are insane!  I saw them at 4’20 in Boulder a few years ago and it was still out of control (in the best way)  My friends tell me every concert is high energy and awesome.  So finally  I chatted with my friend from college Mike Kelly, of Savoy, about doing a post… Not only is Mike a great drummer, he is dating one of my roomates from college (rprs 4ever – haha)..
><
Anyways, Savoy is an Indie Rock band with a refreshing sound you will love.  Their popularity and fame is growing exponentially every day.  Infact, they have already been on tour and are currently working on contract legistics. I created this post from their myspace page.  If you like their unique sound be sure to pass it on :) and support a special Boulder band.
Band Members:

BEN EBERDT.

For those of you who don’t know – these are pictures from a Savoy Concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.  It is a BIG deal to play here –  Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a rock structure in Red Rocks Park near MorrisonColorado (west ofDenver), where concerts are given in the open-air amphitheatre. There is a large, tilted, disc-shaped rock behind the stage, a huge vertical rock angled outwards from stage right, several large boulders angled outwards from stage left and a seating area for up to 9,450 people in between. The amphitheatre is owned and operated by the City and County of Denver, Colorado.

I heard from Love Magazine that the unstoppable photography team Mert & Marcus are working on a new book.  The collection is a series of pictures featuring candid nightlife moments of famous icons (such as Kate Moss – photographs below).  Anyways I love their work – they have a way of letting the light breathe into each image (especially with their black and white work) The bold tones are somehow enhanced by platinum lighting (or retouching you can never really be so sure).

Now for another M&M collaboration with Kate Moss – Topshops new Christmas/Spring look books

Top Shop Christmas 2010

I especially like the retouching of these images – the enhanced colors and tracings (which has been a popular retouching trend I learned about while working at BESPOKE studio) … this also reminds me of besos rojo post from earlier this week & I know Alibeee will love!
